National Sports Centre Inverclyde

The National Sports Centre Inverclyde is the first UK residential sports centre of its kind.

The centre caters for elite athletes and the local community in a range of sports and activities regardless of physical or sensory ability.

The rainscreen on the residential and administrative building consisted of Rodeca’s PC 2550-10 50mm thick panel. The orientation of a crystal external finish lifted the elevation providing a degree of depth within the panel whilst subtly reflecting the surrounding environment and phase of day. The opal rear half of the panel ensured the insulated wall build-up behind was hidden from view.

The same panel was used for the high level glazing above the curtain wall along the concave and convex elevation to the gymnasium and studios. The opal rear of the panel provides soft diffused daylight into the spaces whilst also providing solar shading for the occupants.
