Mandeville School, Aylesbury

Rodeca PC 2540-4 bicolour panels in six different colours and shades provided the glazed ground floor frontage to a new dance, fitness and admin building. The application consists of a double wall construction with support structure sitting within the cavity. The design increased thermal performance whilst providing a smooth, full height finish to the interior. Vinyl graphics depicting dance and sports characters were applied to the external face of the panels. During the daytime the hues and graphics are quite subdued. At dusk, the facade comes to life with silhouettes contrasting against the coloured panels illuminated by the ambient lighting of the studios.

Architect Anthony Corke said: “The dance, fitness and staff areas all face the main entrance to the school. We wanted to provide these spaces with as much light as possible but still retain privacy. The Rodeca product allowed us to achieve both of these factors. The colour change in it also allowed us to create a unique shop front to the school”.
